PETRA

So here is Petra! It was truly amazing! you walk down this long gulch, that is beautiful in and of itself, there are tree here and there growing out of the rock and there is roman age cobblestone under your feet. Here and there there are carvings into the mountain wall, a gate door, a soldier with a camel, stone steps...amazing feats if you think about it, because you are in the middle of a huge desert...people need water right. Well running along the entire length of the gulch is a water system that collected and directed water to a population that lived several thousands if years ago. I was impressed with that, but then you looked out front a a brilliant sun was shining through the openings and you walked into this huge vault where four story buildings were carved into the rock. Not just scrapped away, we are talking carved here. Truly magnificent and a once in a life time experience.
