But this is for Carrisa who graduated 6th grade...yes they have graduation for sixth graders...because it is such a monumental occasion...you can't drive, you can't get a job....your mom can't kick you out of the house because you are such a pleasant person to be around ALL OF THE TIME!!! Especially when you don't get your way....and yes when Cris calls for a ride, seriously tell her no, that she has two legs to walk on or pedal a bike or push a scooter....and that she will survive walking to her friends or lagoon or to the pool or wherever it is that cooler 12 year olds hang out with...other then their mom who has no idea what it is like to be a very cool 12 year old because well lets put it lightly.....and delicately....her mom was a total nerd..as Cris' dad so fondly likes to recall.
...but really, who's having the last laugh......her dad married her very nerdy mom...so there must be something there! (well other the the sex.....cuz face it.....that only lasts so long and really is no where around when the said father and hubby is 10,000 miles away......it must be the wit! (Yes I know...still a nerd!)
Anyway, back to sixth grade and graduation.....
Dear Daughter number one -
I'm proud of you sissa! You sang and smiled beautifully and carried yourself with much poise and grace, you are truly a bright jewel in my crown. You are a treat and a breathe of fresh air, you remind me to laugh at myself, to truly revel in good friends and that there is other music out there besides country. You are talented in so many ways that it would be unfair to count them, to the rest of us plain old nerds.....you work hard when you want something and are driven to be the best. The responsibilities that you have taken on this year to make my life a bit easier on me and you (after all..then you won't hear me yelling!) are amazing. Please remember how special you are to your dad and me and to your Heavenly Father. Always choose the higher path, even when it is harder and longer, you'll never regret it. Choose your friends wisely, so that they will buoy you up along this wild ride called life.We love you and can't wait for many more crazy and fun filled times that they call the teenage years...I look forward to learning and growing with you as your mother.... I could ask for no better
love your ever nerdy and totally whaa whaa mom
Here are a few pictures of then and now....
